Just curious if the CFE 223 would hold up to plinking ranges for 100 to 200 yards. ... My testing with it in .223 is impressive so far, and they load data shows nearly 2600fps with a 200gr Berger. It's absolutely capable of very competitive speeds and has superb temperature stability.

For CFE223 it’s roughly 1.7 fps/degree, so if you do a load up in winter at 30F and try to shoot it in the summer at 90F, you’ll have velocities roughly 100fps higher.If you have good, clean, accurate loads with 55gr bullets I would say, for most shooting uses, you would be pretty close when going to the 62gr bullets using the same powder. Just tweek the charge. When I often offer people my opinions and thoughts. I say they are my $0.02 worth, that's probably overpriced.

CFE 223; CCI 400, -450; ... I have searched through the .223/5.56 thread in the reloading depot and have concentrated on IMR-8208 charges in the 23.0-23.8 grain range with the 75 and 77 grain bullets, with starting seat depth of .02 off the lands. Velocities 2890-2970 for 23.5-23.8 grain loads.
Jun 25, 2020. #6. The first tests up to 27g with cfe223 and the speer 52g were pretty lackadaisical. Then decided to go 27.3 to 28.5 listed for 53g bullets. This test was at 50 yd warm, fouled barrel and moderate rate of fire, not much cooling off. Brass was unsorted range brass. Powder was trickled.I just got some CFE 223 and federal small rifle primers to start making some ammo. My problem is the CFE 223 has only been out since this January and I cant find much load data for it. This is all I can find. 55 GR.
