The All-Ghosts Forest. by Danlex; 2023; Vanilla. A vanilla take on the survival horror Ghoul's Forest series that, through loads of Doom engine trickery, manages to play differently each and every time. Goes heavier on the jumpscares than other wads in this list, but still manages to be scary even without them.
In my opinion eternal has 10x better gameplay, but 2016 has what better emersion. I felt like the doom slayer, rather than playing as him. The hud and small details and the less cartoony feel made the game more realistic tbh. The Adventures of Square, Blade of Agony and Hedon are some that I've particularly enjoyed.As you can see, people still actively vote for WADs from 2000-2010. Maybe the fact of people voting for those old WADs means that those WADs are still good, maybe it's because those WADs just have the advantage of more time to become known. For example Hexen sometimes has a pack of 3 or ever 4 wads that are similar in overall taste.
