I say this for future readers, since the 2012 in Europe, the Middle East, and Asia appears to be a Gen8 and has options unlike the NA Gen8. First thing is to check your battery.

I had unlocked the card and opened the trunk, put items in the trunk and shut the trunk with my keyfob inside. the Trunk would not open using the pad outside. I used the driver unlock button to unlcok all doors but the trunk still would not open. When they change out the relay for a 2 shot relay, the problem is fixed. The relay is bad, nothing is done with the remote. They replaced the battery and resoldered a bad connection. AND tested it to make sure all components were working. Which they were.
