This is correct, for quite a few years Lolla sold out even before releasing the lineup. This started to change around 2016. Last year you can buy 4-day ticket up to the day of the festival when they finally announced that morning the 4-day passes sold out. I'm skeptical they actually sold out and maybe just cut off sales then.
