This isn't true, you can get max hearts and max stamina right after you get off of the great plateau. What isnt true? I think I misunderstood. You said you can get max hearts if you have max stamina and vice versa. I thought you meant if and only if, while that probably wasn't what you intended. That's not what I meant.
Personally, I think max stamina is the best way to do it. When you pick the special at an inn or make special food, it gives you an extra stamina wheel (making 4 maximum), and/or a few extra golden hearts. And for a while, seven hearts will be enough to survive a single hit from most of the things you'll be finding till mid game. 1.There are not enough orbs to max out both. If you want full stamina, you can only have a maximum of 27 red hearts. If you want full health, then you can only have about 2.5 stamina circles. Generally, I found that Stamina is so much more useful than I originally thought and it helped me navigate the world faster than focusing on only hearts first. Plus, foods add yellow hearts are much easier to make than foods that add extensions to your Stamina.
