It's only white to indicate it hasn't been cleared yet, you can still enter them normally. legend and master versions are a tougher challenge changing each day, that can provide exotic rewards if you can clear them solo. So i cleared a lost sector on standard diffucilty (1st time) but after it wont appear on the map, the icon remains unchanged ...I was not able to find any answers on if a quest is needed to unlock the legend/master difficulty.
