I think this would be a fun, interesting build, but have no idea yet how it is mechanically going to work out.Other option is Monk if you have good enough stats. A shadow monk/horizon walker ranger is a pretty lethal combo. Forge Cleric 1 gets you access to some great spells from the cleric list as well as a +1 weapon/armor. Wouldn't recommend going much further though, since Horizon Walker pops off at higher levels a bit.

At level 5 you get 2d12 + 2d8 + 34 assuming cast summon beast, use planar warrior, and make 2 sharpshooter musket attacks. (average of 56). That's better then crossbow expert start of 2d6 + 1d4 + 6 assuming 2 attacks from crossbow and Favored foe (average of 15.5).
