You will need to remove the body plastics first and this is never all that easy. once the tank has been freed, remove the fuel petcock and the fuel level float and rheostat mechanism. Then rinse the tank out thoroughly with hot, soapy water if possible. Follow this up with clear water and finally some alcohol to soak up the water. If it leaks, it may just be the float needle is damaged. Another thing to check is weather or not there is gas in the floats. Feb 25, 2014 · Remove side covers and tank cover, three 8mm bolts hold the sending unit in place. Unbolt it, pull it out (the float is the size of the opening, and you have to turn it on it's side to get it out). Look at the reostat on the sending unit. Mine on my 06 was all corroded. I got a used sending unit and everything works fine now.

Posted September 30, 2021. try without a gas cap for bit and see, in case its not venting. I would try running a small test tank to the carb and see how it runs that way-. Also remove fuel line from carb and check fuel flow through the petcock in both the reserve and on positions-see how well it flows in both positions.The clip is on the throttle needle. Remove the 4 screws on the top of the carb and pull out the throttle plunger. Use a philip screwdriver and insert it into the holder (middle of slide) and give it a 1/4 turn and remove the holder. The needle should fall out now and either the washer will be on the needle or it will stick to the slide/plunger.
