Aug 30, 2020 · The motor in question is the typical HF predator 212, non hemi, brand new, but the application is a bit different. This one is going to power a mud motor for my duck boat. I want to increase the rpm, while keeping the governor for safety precautions. Use an impact and it'll go right in on both the governor arm hole and the pressed in shaft hole (no need for a tap) you can knock the shaft out with a punch going in towards the block. You don't need to remove the gear. It all comes out as one. Use a 7/16×20 or 7/16×14 tap for the oil sensor hole. I prefer 7/16×20 for the fine thread.

Caution and restraint is due here because you can push the engine too hard, and float the valve springs, throw rods, etc. which is bad. Remove the Gas Tank to get to the Governor. Another guys engine that ran most of the season was almost ready to chew through the stem and drop a valve. The Predator's pull strong in stock configuration, and using a ~5000 ish RPM limit set by tweaking the governor linkage and checking the maximum RPM post race would be ideal with the intent of the class and the stock flywheel.
We were able to bypass the governor on a non hemi predator 212 using only a small zip tie. This is by far the easiest governor solution.
