I went through the same thing and unfortunately for me it was prodromal labor. Contractions on and off for weeks. I tried everything to help kick labor into gear (walks every day, breast pumping, and sex all seemed to cause more contractions) but nothing got me into active labor. I ended up being induced at 42 weeks.
