In regards to front sight on a 30A (S), going to a 3/8 wide dovetail is a perfect fit to the barrel compared to the too wide 1/2" dovetail stock one.

Like they said $200 is a far price for one in excellent condition. $2600, must have been looking a something else. 100% blue book of gun values is $220. That means unfired in the original box.

By my research it was made in 1973 based on the serial number. There is still plenty of rifling left so it hasn't been used that much. It comes with a Japanese made scope that is Glenfield branded and is very clear. You have a model 30A Glenfield (Marlin). It is nearly the same thing as the model 336 Marlin. Marlin produced the Glenfield 30A with a birch stock instead of the higher grade walnut stock that they used on the 336. The Glenfields were sold through department stores at a cheaper price. The front sight is not on a ramp but dovetailed into the barrel. It has an endcap instead of bands.
