May 29, 2015 · The 30 serves as a duty gun, carry gun and a field/woods gun. The LCP has its place, as a second gun or when a small, light gun is all you can carry. But the 30 gets carried almost continuously. The 9mm is not a bad cartridge. It offers lots of capacity and is cheap to shoot.

It's a 36 slide on a 30SF frame so it's the thinner 36 slide that drops the 4oz in weight, not the frame since the frames are the same. So yes it is lighter, but for me I'm not going to rush out and sell my Gen4 30 to buy a 30S, it's not that big of a deal to me. Now if I didn't have the Gen4 30 I would definitely consider the 30S.I have always liked the Glock 30SF for a number of reasons including being able to carry 10+1 (9+1 with short mag's) and use a Glock 21 13 rounder as backup but it's not always the most comfortable carrying gun.
