The lift points for the car's jack lie along ribs about .75" high and maybe .2" thick that run roughly from just behind the front wheel to just in front of the rear wheels on each side. The top of the scissor jack would be too unstable on a cross-member. You should be using a floor jack if you want to jack up at the cross-member.
