The Model 60 began production in 1965, just as Google said. The modern Smith & Wesson company no longer cares about its history.

I'm mostly trying to figure out the twist rate of the barrel without having to take it apart. It should have "Made in USA" or a 4 line trade mark stamp like this one, stamped on the right side over the trigger guard. There are a couple of quick and dirty methods to approximately date a model 41. If the model number and serial number are on the same side of the frame, the pistol was made in 1960 or before. No prefix serial numbers are 1961 - 1969. A-prefix serial numbers 1970 to about 1984.
The Combat Masterpiece was actually introduced in the 1950/51 timeframe, but it was not designated the Model 15 until 1957 when S&W introduced model numbers for its entire product line.
