found out a few weeks ago that ublock origin (uo) was ported to safari. i was one of those who clung to old ublock even though it was no longer updated, just waiting for uo for safari. i installed uo. it worked great, transferred all my settings from old ublock, good to go, felt like nothing really changed except a few new settings and a name.Orion browser is a Safari alternative, also running WebKit, and supporting uBlock Origin.
