I personally prefer stainless so I would go with the stainless rifle. From the accounts that I have read the Optima is a good rifle. You named about the only difference. They both shoot as accurate. The Wolf is lighter and points quicker if that matters to you. Me, i have both and i love the Optima.

The closest thing I've come up with was the date code being the first two numbers of the serial number for older models and the last two numbers being the date code for later models. The rifle I was gifted only has a five digit serial number.
