I was basically spending 3-4 evenings to load 300 rounds of 9mm on the Rock Chucker. After getting a 550, I was loading 300 rounds in under an hour. Huge difference. BTW, do not waste the money to upgrade the Rock Chucker into a crappy progressive, it blows in comparison to any of the real progressive presses from Dillon.--Regards,
I've had an RCBS Big Max forever (30 years), and love it. I wanted a progressive press (at least I thought I did) but wanted the RCBS quality. I've never used a Dillon but it has a cult-like following for a reason. If you are set on a progressive press, spend the big money and get the Dillon. If you are not willing to get the Dillon, forget progressive reloading altogether. If you want something faster than single stage but doesn't cost Dillon money, Lee Classic Turret Press.
