Another way to remember the direction of rotation of the engine is to try to tighten the harmonic balancer bolt. Tightening it rotates the engine in its running direction. So far as I know, all car and truck engines rotate this way.

In 1976 a minor modification was made to the main webbings to strenghten them. The 351M was introduced in 1975 after the Cleveland was discontinued and uses the same block and heads as the 400, the only difference is the shorter stroke crankshaft and taller pistons. The problem with using a 400 crank in a 351w is that you have to cut the counter weights down to fit the block. They are a nightmare to balance when this is done because they require heavy metal added. Also you need a longer rod, so whats normaly done is they cut the crank for the chevy 2.1" journal or the older 327 2.0" journal. In 1975, Ford took the 400M and destroked it to 3.50-inches to achieve the 351M, an underpowered, overweight version of the 351C it replaced. This means the 351M isn’t just a 351C with a new designation. It means the 351M is 351ci inside a 400M block, which is considerably heavier than the 351C block.
