Most importers laser/engrave the frame with their info and serial number. The letters you're looking at are the serial number prefix and not a date code. Glock "date codes" were on early Glocks that had barrels proofed in Austria. They included a 3 letter date code that was separate from the serial number indicating the proof date.So a "proof marked" Glock will have a little "NPV" symbol, an Eagle(I think), and a three-letter code that tells when it was made and test fired. SOME frames are black and coated in duracoat and cerakoted. You can tell the difference in the magazine well where you will see overspray. You can also tell around the serial number plate.
