Just go fight Nightmare King Grimm at his tent. after talking to the NPC in the Deepnest and going back to the Nightmare King Grimm, he appears to be sleeping and I have to use my Dreamgate to fight him.

I would banish, you can avoid the grimmkin nightmares, get a way better charm, a new NPC in dirtmouth, and you can still fight the boss immediately elsewhere. Just make sure you get all the unbreakable charms first.
