In September of 1964, the funeral home was purchased by Max Harden of New Sharon and took the name of Harden Funeral Chapel. Max's son, Ron, owned and operated the businesses in New Sharon & What Cheer for many years. After a fire completely destroyed the What Cheer chapel in May of 1977, the new chapel was built at its current location.
