Blood Lust does drain your health but the rate is not as bad as Dereliction, and you can recover from it quickly. Also, Blood Lust can trigger Coalescence which is a bonus. For comfy LBG builds, look no further than the Rapid Fire Pierce 2 (RFP2) builds. Malzeno's LBG is the comfiest (and arguably the best) gun for RFP2.

But if you run slice/sticky you wouldn't need them at all.
