The late Paul Zindel tells the story of 2 High School sophomore's in Staten Island named John and Lorraine who are prime examples of adolescent angst living in troubled homes and trying to find themselves. The shock of this betrayal indirectly causes Mr. Pignati to have a fatal heart attack, and John and Lorraine feel indirectly responsible for his death.
